THERMOTHERAPY

Thermotherapy is a therapeutic treatment that involves applying heat to the body to treat injuries and relieve pain. The heat applied should be higher than body temperature, which is 36.5°C to 37.2°C. Thermotherapy can improve muscle health, even after minor or major temporary injuries that result in immobilization, stiffness or reduced movement.

The heat spreads from the thermal mat to the person's body, producing a temperature increase, which causes a relaxing and therapeutic effect. It consists of the application of heat in certain areas during short sessions of time.

Thermotherapy can be superficial or deep, depending on the depth to which the heat penetrates. Superficial thermotherapy applies heat to the skin, while deep thermotherapy produces biological effects in deep tissues.

By combining thermotherapy with other therapies such as infrared rays and natural minerals such as quartz or stones, the effects of the therapy are potentiated and the benefits are increased, improving the results, among which the following stand out:

Increases cerebral blood flow and mental concentration

Reduces loss of muscle mass and/or improves muscle quality

Maintains protein homeostasis and reduces toxicity.

Improves blood pressure and muscle capillarization

Increased muscle strength and flexibility.

Improves metabolism and controls insulin sensitivity

Creates rapid muscle recovery and prevents hypertrophy.

In order for heat to pass from one body to another, it is necessary to use the following mechanisms: conduction, convention and radiation. Some of the methods are:

  • Solid conductive media
    • Hot sand
    • Hot wraps
    • Thermophores
    • Chemical bags
    • Electric pads or mats
  • Semi-solid and liquid conductive media
    • Wet compresses.
    • Kerosene and kerosene wax.
    • Mud therapy.
    • Hot hydrotherapy.

  • Convective media
    • Dry air and humid air.

  • Radiation
    • Infrared
